u never know. they may feel they need to "live up" to their name.. or it may just embarrass them.
Does giving a kid a ghetto name increase his chances of being a thug?
It depends on where you live and bring him up. A kid will gravitate to the strongest influences around him. Lots of thugs, he may become one. Lots of trades people he may become a craftsman. Guide him the best you can.
Reply:its all in how n where they are raised
Reply:It's definitely a handicap..
Reply:No, I can see why you might think that but no it doesn't automatically mean that the kid is going to be a thug. A lot of thugs have some pretty normal names, often biblical names while some people with "ghetto" names turn out being some wonderful people. There may appear to be a connection but in reality there isn't.
Reply:No..Prime example...I know a dude named Dexter(geeky name to some) and he is 'Thuggish" and a dude named Keith (considered 'Thug" where I'm at) and he is a total nerd...so no just because you name a kid a thug name doesn't mean he is gonna be athug...just like if you name a girl Aphordite(greek godess of love very beautiful) it doesn't mean she is gonna be the most gorgeous creature to walk this earth (not saying the kid wouldn't be pretty just making a point)
Reply:No not at all
Reply:nope if he's gonna be a thug then he's gonna be a thug if he's not then he's not. The name means nothing you could even name him ghetto and he could be a responsible person or name him good and he could turn out a thug names are only so you can identify the person not a horoscope it's just a name!
Reply:Not at all....being a thug is usually due to your upbringing or just thug friends.
Reply:i wouldnt think so but if your worried about it dont give them a ghetto name
Reply:Wonder how Crack-Daddy Wilson will make out in his job interview at the local hospital.
Or maybe Ho-Beyatch Anderson might one day want to work for the church?
jeez man.. You are kidding us all right?
This is a hypothetical question I hope.
I don't think it's exactly giving the kid a head start in life. Last thing any kid needs is an association to the hood in their name.
Put the crack pipe down and Stop and Think
The way most ghetto names are spelled might also expose the parents illiteracy. Ghetto talk has butchered the english language so I'm sure the kids teachers will make a mockery out of the poor kid.
dem = them, dats = that's.
My english teacher would have had a field day.
Poor kid
Reply:This may be stupid of me, but why would you want to give anyone a ghetto name
What are Ghetto names?
Reply:I don't think a name neccessarily shapes a person's personality, but it coule possible become something of a self-fulfilling prophecy. If other people associate a child's name with a certain stereotype, it may affect the way a child sees himself. Just something to think about! I'm due with my 4th in December, and I love the process of picking out names for them. I try to give my children names that are unique but not completely out there, a name that flows well, and all of our kids have 2 middle names (I figure if they have an issue with one name later on, they can go by a middle name!). Good luck finding the perfect name for your little bundle!
Reply:There are millions of names to give kids - why give him/her a stupid ghetto name........................
Use your brain and do the right thing.....................
Reply:and what exactally is a ghetto name??
Reply:I dnt think so but it can increase his chances of not getting a qualified job.
Reply:A thug? How about an alcaholic and a drug dealer!
Why would you even want to name a poor baby a ghetto name?
PS: Ghetto is like a trashy front yard, some type of ganster, not a name type.
Reply:IDK, it could be the start
Reply:Grow up!
Reply:i'm still trying to figure out what a "ghetto" name is. why don't you give us some examples of what you think a "ghetto" name is.
Reply:hmmmmm fascinating concept does giving a kid a presidents name increase his chances of becoming president? or if you give him an irish name will he then be irish? or if you name him christian will he become one?
