Would the name loquacious be a Ghetto name?

It would depend entirely on how she was brought up and who she had as friends. The name itself means 'very talkative' but hardly anyone would know that!





I think it has the potential to be a very pretty name if she grows up to be a young lady of grace and elegance - but if she makes some 'ghetto' friends then it could go the other way!





But as a name for a baby girl - I think it's sweet :)

Reply:Extremely. If the average person cannot pronounce it and it is not a foreign name, it might be ghetto.


Please do not name your daughter that. It's something she will have to live with, and be judged by for her life.


Some employers do discriminate and if the same see the name "Loquacious" on a resume, she probably wouldn't be hired unless her skills were extraordinary.








ETA: Actually, Ghetto names originated in the 1960s during the Civil Rights movement. It was supposed to be a method of rebelling against the rest of society by choosing a name that differs from what they deemed as acceptable...

There no guarantee of course, but don't stick her with one of the crap, made up on the spot, usually incorrectly spelled names that people use these days to try, without success, to be cool! And do look up 'loquacious' in the dictionary!


'Ghetto' names originated in the USA among black people living in ghettos, and has spread to Trailer Park whites. Generally people with no class, who think they can acquire some of that elusive stuff by giving their kids a 'different' name! These kind of people can generally be seen on the Jerry Springer show, both black and white. Whatever colour you are, go with the decent people of your race, and give your child a proper name.
Reply:Well given that I can't pronounce it without a some trouble, I'm thinking it might be a little ghetto, but there's nothing wrong with giving your daughter a ghetto name, if that's what you want to name her.


Don't change your mind because of what other people are telling you. You'll regret it in the long run.

Honestly, your child's name is not usually the best time to exercise your creativity. Whether it's fair or not, a name like that is going to come across as pretentious.





With the way people name kids now, I'm just glad you aren't going to name the kid Money or Lexus.
