Do ppl really judge ppl with Ghetto names like' LaRhonda' and Silly Names like "Candy"?

Is it really important what you name your kids, or do ppl say u shouldn't judge ppl usually the ones with F_ed up names?

I was talking to some one who told me

: If I were a manager looking to hire someone with the Tamika Watson, I would assume she's ghetto ( not racial wise)

also someone with the name Candy shouldn't be taken seriously...

I took offense and the asked about my own name ( Jezel Kelly )

and I was actually told by another person " I wouldn'y assume bc Jezel (Gisele) is a French name, and Kelly is Irish.... is this wrong?

what are ur views?

I use to work in a Clinic in Dallas and i was the front desk and when we got resume the office manager would just look at the names and be like uh no that sounds like this or she sounds like that. Yea unfortunately people are like that. Its very important how you name your kids, there still is a lot of ignorant people in this world. Your name sounds okay, its like right in the middle you cant tell what race you belong to.
Reply:I do think folks judge based on names, unfortunately. However I also learned not to judge based on names. I grew up with with a Peaches, Dolly, and Candy - Peaches was diamond hard, Dolly was big and strong, and Candy, well, she was ebullient as her name. I also knew a Hunter, who was shy and quiet and I don't really think a hunter, and a male Jamie who was total dude. And a male Stasi (Stacey), also totally a guy. Names are not destiny in as much as folks refrain from forcing the name bearer into a category. I don't know what folks think about my name, they usually misremember it and get it totally wrong. Sometimes that's worse then assuming something about a person.
Reply:I knew a Candy from a family of Professors..so know one name that is sterotyped is necessarily truth. We get generalizations from truth so there is a reason for them..what is important is that we never leave no room for exceptions because there are and that is just the way it is.

(candy Kane no less!)

But Candy, for example is short for Candace and that is not considered a ditzy name.
Reply:I wont judge them no. I will probably just be aware/realise that they COULD be from a "ghetto" background, but that would have not effect on how I treated them.

You have a lovelyname, I really love it!!

good luck!!!

xxxxxxxxxx
Reply:well people will think your name is ghetto if you take a nice name, speel it totally cracked up and then expect the same pronunciation, and Candy is just a pet name for Candace
Reply:It is true that you shouldn't judge people by their names but it would be a wiser choice not to pick a name that may give your child a disadvantage in life.
Reply:I think some people do judge by names.
Reply:honestly yes. i heard this name missy and i was like sounds like a stripper. my names chantel and its french and everyone thnks im black.
Reply:Yes ppl will judge. Your name is decent, no worries.
