When I go to school(nice area) and I tell some of my black friends some stories of mine, they laugh. They call them Ghetto, hood rat names, or just start laughing. I don't like to call them "Ghetto names" since ghetto is a place not a way to describe someone. Anyways here they are tell if they are strange/weird:

but personally some of the names are not ghetto


like deja and kiara, those aren't ghetto names to i really like those names.
Reply:Keep in mind that Ghettos did not start with Black people, and you've implied that, considering these names are all mostly names of the Black American community.





And these name are ridiculous and just sad, anyone with these names will have a hard time "making it" in America.

Reply:Nicolette is the only non trashy name on that list. Sounds like lazy parents who just made something up. And I highly doubt any of these are ethnic names. That would imply the had history. Most of these are unpronounceable

Reply:I wouldn't categorize them as ghetto names however I do think they are reflective of the trend these days to try and have kids with decidedly unique names. I certainly can't say I'd name any of my kids one of these names since personally I don't like them but if someone else wants to stick their kid with an odd name thats their business.

Reply:If I saw any of these names except for Nicolette and Kiera(pronounced Keer-ah in my neighborhood), I would assume that the person was black. To say they are Ghetto, is insulting, but definately ethnic.They are mostly names I have never heard...some sound, to me, like made up names. Are they popular names in another country?

Reply:Personally, I don't like those names well enough to name my future children them, but they aren't that bad (I've heard worse). It's really up to you, if you think it's a good name for your child then go ahead :)
