Uggh Ghetto names!!!?

I use to be a telemarketer, my boss told me to change my name b/c it was too ethinc sounding to be some the phone.. I was highly offended. My name is Jezel Blaze Kelly, butthe correct wat to Spell it is Gisele Blaise Kelly, My mom "Americanized it"

When I asked my boss why I would have to identify myself as 'Kelly' instead of Jezel, she sd, simply put ' your name is ghetto'

HOW THE HELL IS A FRENCH NAME GHETTO/??

sHOould I have stood up and put my foot down. or just go with the flow?? Also, do u thik it's ghetto?? I was thinking of offically changing 'blaze' to 'blaise'

Uggh Ghetto names!!!?
It's not worth it to lose ur job over a name. No, ur name is not ghetto i have a mexican friend with that same name but it's spelled Gisell. Ghetto names would be like Kineisha, Laticia,Shiniqua,La`keysha etc...so in my opinion ur name is not ghetto just unique and i love it btw!!!
Reply:Hm, well I think it's wrong that he would care about something like that. But you should have said something for sure if you didn't agree with the situation.

I don't even think that's a "ghetto" name or whatever that really means.

But i'm all for rights to business owners of how they want to run their business, so he did have the right to make you change your name on the phone. So don't take it to court or anything in my opinion.
Reply:A sales customer came into the store I work at during my 2nd week, he looked at my name tag and asked what my name was and if I just made it up, I asked him his name in response and he said Brian. I looked at him and told him to get his Brian out of his azz.

People coming to where I work asking me why I got my name, they better ask themselves, what the hell "Trig, Piper, D1ck, and Bob mean first.
Reply:Sound like you could have a potential lawsuit there. They should have thought about your name before they hired you, but if they didn't hire you based upon your name then they would definitely be wrong too.

Maybe they will be more accepting now since our president-elect's first name is Barack, but used to go by Barry. If you speak properly, use no slang or sound 'ghetto' then I don't think there's a problem, except only your boss had preconceived notions about how you appeared in person versus on the phone.

oh well, that's my two cents...

Reply:I would have definitely put my foot down! What is wrong with Gisele? That is a beautiful name! You should never have to change your name for a job. btw, I ve heard much more "ethnic" sounding names than yours over the phone. ( lots of Indian-sounding folks working at Sprint)You should refuse to do it, tell him you don't want to be discriminated today or any day because of your name.
Reply:Why would you let someone tell you that your name is ghetto and you not stand up for yourself? The proper thing to do would have been to pull her to the side and warn her the first time she stepped out of line like that (making note of it to upper management.). Next time threaten to file a formal complaint and then an official grievance against her and the company, regardless of her skin color! For god sakes, stop complaining about it to us and stand up for yourself.
Reply:You're right. It's out of line. First of all, the name is not 'ghetto', it's actually really pretty. Second, f*ck her, you've been there for 5 yrs. You it hasn't caused a problem yet. There is no reason it should from here on out. So pretty much tell her, in the most diplomatic manner possible, to go f*ck herself. If she is persistant, go to higher management. (Unless she is taking orders from higher ups, that might be a dilema...)
Reply:If you are proud of your name then you need to let your boss know that you are not okay with that and you are proud of the name you was given and that is the name you are going to use.
Reply:Don't get too mad at your boss since you don't want to risk your job, but i really do agree with you!! I don't get why you shouldn't use your REAL name %26amp; it doesn't sound unprofessional! I like it! it sounds like an awesome name
Reply:i wish i had that name. my name is abigail i hate my name.and your name is not ghetto it is HOTT. and you should have put your foot down!
Reply:oh gosh, thats not ghetto at all!

its unique! your boss is probably jealous because your name is unique and hers is plain

But i love your name!

keep your name!

dont let anyone tell you you should change it!
Reply:How about Jessie instead of Jezel?Btw, ghetto is also used as a synonym for crappy
Reply:Maybe you aren't pronouncing your name right, cuz Giselle shouldn't sound ghetto.

it's Jee-zel

Shaniqua sounds ghetto. Change your name to that.
Reply:I'm amazed you even passed the interview, your spelling is unbelieveable. I can barely understand what you are saying.
Reply:I would tell your boss you're keeping your "ghetto" name, thank you very much.

I don't think it's ghetto. I think it's beautiful!! Don't change the spelling though.
Reply:your names not ghetto.

i think its a nice name!

i think you should say your name as it is!

Reply:That was really rude!
