Is my name ghetto?

am a black female and my mother spelt my name a'yrin and you say it like erin but white people always add extra things to the end like callin me arriana even though my name doesn't and extra a in it. is there a nice way 4 me to tell people to say my name and not think i'm ghetto

Is my name ghetto?
No, ghetto is disrespectful and demeaning. I think you have a beautiful name. I'm a black male and my mother named me Eldra and everybody blacks included just knows how to chop it up. Do you think my name is weird?
Reply:i dont think ur ghetto
Reply:definialtylyafswa not!
Reply:I am Australian a lot of immigrants espessially from asia adopt our first names so it easier for them and us .I would have trouble pronouncing your fisrt name but Erin is not that common here so it would be a perfect name for you to use !! So Erin I dont know what ghetto has to do with what your called this is to me an American term we use to describe poorer areas where people live in lower class housing here we call them Slums the exact same meaning as America uses .My ex wife came from the slums and was an exellent wife but unfortunately as time went by she wanted her freedom to be single again so I am divorced now and spend a lot of time on my computer trying to help people who cant afford professional help .Just because you may come from a ghetto does not mean you are not a nice person never forget that love yourself as a human being and a worthwhile person and forgive us that we cant say your birth name its not on purpose just a lack of understanding .SMILE and have a nice day Erin ....from john.
Reply:no, its not ghetto, its unique. Just in a nice way correct the person, that way you are educating them on the right way to pronounce your name. my real name is Evelisse (from spain), ever since elementary school nobody ever heard that name and make a mockary of it. now I am Liz. and now at an older age I wish I stayed w/ my real name.

good luck Liz
Reply:Yes, just smile sweetly and confidently and say your name right.and say it sounds the same just spelled differently.
Reply:just tell people its pronounced "erin". its spelled funny, but its still a nice name.
Reply:All you have to say is, "It's pronounced Erin, not Arriana," but you say it nicely, not in a snobby way. It's that easy.
Reply:Just correct them. Your mom was pretty creative with the spelling is all, which confuses us white folks. Don't take it personal - we were taught to sound out words / names, so we tend to try and sound out each syllable. Ever try and read the names in the Bible - good heavens!!!
Reply:word
Reply:Tell them it's pronounced like Erin.
Reply:Don't feel bad, my Mom spelled my name, and left the "e" off the end of a very traditional name. People massacre my name, nobody can spell it, or say it..I long gave up, and call my self by my nickname.I just make sure it is spelled right on legal documents.

Just tell people your mother got creative, and spelled Erin with a "Y". they will understand, LOL, I sure do!
Reply:while it's great the spelling of your name is unique, you're going to have to deal with pronunciation issues for a while. My last name is two letters and I still get people botching it up. So unless you goto city hall to change it, you might as well suck it up and just go with whatever people call (mispronounce) you.
Reply:When people say/write your name wrong, just correct them in a polite manner. "Oh, it's "A'yrin", not "Arriana". People tend to have problems with exotic names. Where I live people find my name very exotic and have a hard time getting it right. Don't be offended or read too much into it, your name is just unusual, which causes people to have problems with it.

I don't think your name sounds ghetto.
Reply:just say i my name is unique and it's actually pronounced erin however it doesn't look like it
Reply:no its cool cuz its original and i bet noone else has that name
Reply:Actually it sounds more like a white hippie name than a ghetto name.

bleeding heart
