I want to name my baby (if a girl) Desreea (Dez-Ree-Uh) is that a name that sounds ghetto to you? My friends tease me and say if you name your baby that, think about when they fill out an application! They're not going to get hired lol lol... Someone help me :o(
Does this name sound Ghetto to you?
Yes, it does sound silly and made up. I wouldn't call it ghetto. Sounds more trailer trash to me. So does Desiree. I find it tacky to name a child 'desire'. I would try to find a name with history and class behind it that's spelled properly.
How about:
Deirdre
Daria
Delilah
Dahlia
Daphne
Reya
Riona
Leah
Good luck!
Reply:Have to agree with bubbly - love Delilah
Reply:Yeah it does but it is different. I think that as long as you like it......
Reply:Children are NOT a canvas for their parents creativity.
Do not saddle the child with a difficult name just because you have some creative inclinations. Odd names like that set the child up for ridicule by their school peers, and frankly make it difficult to get a good job when they become adults.
Choose a sensible name.
Reply:yes name it shanda thats a pretty name
Reply:VERY!!!
Some similar but not so ghetto names are Sierra and Esmae
I'd just start looking again if i were u!
Reply:Yes, It is ghetto.
Reply:Yes, sorry but it does.
Maybe consider Desir茅e instead.
Reply:ew ghetttttoooo
Reply:I think it sounds lovely.
Unusual names are a hard line, too odd and it's a bad thing, but Desreea sounds a lot like some very common names, while still being unique. I have whaqt most people think is an unusual name, and I wouldn't change it for the world.
Good luck, and don't let some people's boring narrow assumptions stop you from naming your baby something that you love.
Reply:Why not choose Desiree? It's very similar and much more common, i.e. easily recoginzable.
Reply:If you have to ask 'does this name sound ghetto', the answer should be obvious.
Name your girl Desiree. Desreea sounds like diarhea.
Reply:sounds very familiar that's what my daughter was told about the choice of her baby's name....name your child what you want...
Reply:the name doesnt sound ghetto but the way you spell it does
Reply:yes.
Reply:oh.......at first I thought you meant Desiree. I prefer that. I think the name you picked is pretty ghetto.
Reply:She will probably be called Desi or Ree when she gets to school. Make sure you can stand the nicknames.
Reply:It's kind of annoying when people try to make a name more interesting by changing the spelling. It still gets pronounced the original way, so why not keep it simple. I hate to say it, but it does sound a bit "ghetto." It's like naming a kid Ikea (true story).
Reply:YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Reply:no, i think it is an adorable pretty name! i actually quite like it...what about Desarea with the a, pronounce Dez-a-ray
Reply:You can name your baby whatever name you want to name her, i think its cute :)
Mom of 5 boys
Reply:i dont think names sound ghetto to me. i think its fine(i have a cool suggesttion, Neva'cia, sounds like navasha)
Reply:Sounds like diahrrea (sp?), sorry
Reply:I think it's a cute name. People are always saying that but I think if they see everything else she has to offer her name will be one to remember. That resume or application want get lost in the bunch like plain common names Emily, Jane and Jack. Anyways just be careful with the spelling.
Reply:I like it! What about Dalyla Nicole though? Thats a good name.
Reply:Your friend is right.
Reply:Yeah, it does. Think about the child and how/what they will have to deal with with the name you give them.
Reply:I do think it's ghetto, sorry!
How about Dahlia?
Reply:it doesnt sound ghetto just made up by a 15 year old. id go down another lane and choose a different name
Reply:I think that is a sort of silly name. I would go for something a little more common. It is smart of you to think about what your child will be treated as with their name. What about a different name like Summer or Mae? Those are cute and interesting.
Reply:it sounds like diarrhea. the teasing in school would be terrible.
