Is this name ghetto to you?

Just a few minutes ago I saw a question on here asking about ghetto names and a popular answer was "Shaneequa" or "Shaniqua" (people spelled it different ways), but one of my best friends names is Shanequa and it's kinda common around here. Is that name (Shanequa) ghetto to you? There were other answers that were common to me too. Someone even said any name with 4 letters. wtf?

Are these ghetto to you?

Is this name ghetto to you?
you only missing my girl shantiniqua and you in the South south Bronx. GHETTO.lmao
Reply:Not really. Most of the ghettos I know have names like "Little Vietnam", "The Alley Maze", or "Punk Corner".

On a serious note. I am in conflict with myself over this sort of thing. While I find "new" spellings of names appalling on one hand (it reminds me of our tendency to just butcher the English language and then make it trendy and cool to do so) I also realize that every generation likes to make things their own and that we, in fact, butchered other languages to get the language that I and others prize so vehemently. I never see a person complain about how we've torn apart the Greek or German tongue to get our current language...
Reply:Elaina and Jeffrey/Geoffrey are older names. If ghetto names mean "made-up" names, then I would say yes they are. Sorry, but I would never in a million years saddle my kid with any of those names. They are as bad as the 60s names like Moonbeam, Star, etc.
Reply:YES to all of the girl ones, and yes to all of them except Jeffery on the boy's list. the thing that makes names "ghetto" is spelling them obnoxiously. ie emily- emhilley
Reply:All are pretty ghetto except Jeffery....I gotta buddy named Jeff is he is certainly not ghetto, more like a big, fat, bald, white guy
Reply:they are all ghetto except for Geoffery/Jeffery..Elaina sounds a little more european or russian.

The best ghetto name I hear is my neighbor..Lashaunda
Reply:Ahlea, Elaina, Geoffery/Jeffery are the only ones that don't sound ghetto to me.
Reply:All those names except jeffery and elaina are ghetto. And except geoffery... but I hate that name. So its ghetto too.

edit- Well congratulations... you've got a ghetto name too!
Reply:everything on the list except Jeffery is ghetto names.
Reply:I think they are pretty ghetto.

Except for Elaina and Jeffery.

I guess those depend on how the person acts.
Reply:The only ones that DON'T sound ghetto to me are Elaina and Geoffery/Jeffery.
Reply:every single one of those names are ghetto except for number 6 in girls and 4 in boys...shaniqua is the ghettoest name of them all! lmao sorry to burst your bubble!
Reply:I would hope to not be named anything on that list except Jeffery.
Reply:Yeah they are pretty "ghetto"
Reply:1/2 of those names you just made up!
Reply:I think Ghetto is the wrong term. These names are more typically ethnic than ghetto.
Reply:Yes, they're all ghetto.

Any person's name with a red spellcheck squiggle beneath it is ghetto to me.
Reply:They all sound ghetto to me except Jeffery.
