Seriously, have you had enough of the people naming their babies ghetto names?

I was reading an article about babies born in the New Year. I saw white and black parents naming their kids Quiden, Lawrentayl, Lawyrenzio, you know it.

What is the deal? First of all, why can't parents spell these names properly? Secondly, why give them names that will hinder them the rest of their life? I just don't understand. Some of these names are getting more and more bizarre and difficult to spell or decipher too.

Seriously, have you had enough of the people naming their babies ghetto names?
i hate it i can tell a kids race by their name i especially hate black names like lashonte, damonte and so forth. i asked a girl why she named her kids these names and she said they were muslum names and that they mean sometthing . well i am muslum and they are nto muslum names and they do not mean anything. black people get it straight
Reply:Because it's the one time in their life they can express their creativity... and inflict it on a child who'll never be able to spell their own name, hahaha

In Australia, those kids would just have their names shortened by people to Quid, Lawrie... and we'd just call you Barry. That way, everyone can be normal and not have to spell out their names.

You have a ghetto name epidemic. We have a BOGAN name epidemic. Bad variations of good, proper normal names, like Aiden, abound - there's a letter Y obsession:

Aydon, Braydon, Jaydon, Brydon, Croydon, Haydon, Lydon, Raydon... and all types of gangbangers called Cory and Tyler...

But noone beats the Kiwis (in New Zealand) for Tula Does The Hula From Hawaii, Fish and Chips, Benson and Hedges....

Have a good day, Barry :-)
Reply:Because people are obsessed with having unique, cool, and interesting names. Celebrities are attributing to the trend, but average people take it a little too far and often try too hard. As for some African Americans, they see this as getting back to their roots (at least that's what a friend told me).

Even misspelling common names gets on my nerves. I can't stand seeing names like Emmaleigh, Kaytelin, Lideah etc. It doesn't make the name itself any more unique. And often times, parents try to make the spelling more unique and actually spell the name in a way that changes the pronunciation...but they don't realize that.
Reply:miss schlonky you forgot the worst\best one..

"4real" The naming place wouldnt let the parents use the letter 4 in the name so they legally named him Superman but call him 4real.

I think people just want their children to be different so they stand out and dont get looked over.

Names are all made up. I think it's the parents choice but I do agree really weird names can hinder a child.
Reply:why should you be the one to say what people name their kids? It's that mother decision on what she names her baby i am having a bi-raciral child and her name will be Rohan Alijah and some people hate the name and others love it ! anyways im not trying to be disrepectful but thats their decision!
Reply:Well it is kind of unintentional that there kids will be teased or whatever , but the parents choose for themselves Kepp your opinions to yourself!

By the way :to: the new soon to be mommy!Congrats on your baby whos name will be Rohan Alijah oo that is such a nice name!
Reply:Someone should say to the mothers, they do the naming, stop that or just don't.

This started in the 70's African heritage programs they changed their names then their children's names to Swahili , but most Afro -Americans were edo or congan.
Reply:actually, I've had it with the whole asking questions thing about naming babies. Enough is enough already. You're not the first woman in the world to name a baby.
Reply:Because if they had normal american names and they acted like normal american they'd have to live up to normal american standards w/o claiming discrimination.
Reply:Yeah I have.

I also am sick of people giving their daughters boys names. Also giving sons girls names are bad but that doesn't happen often.
Reply:I have never understood why people, especially celebs name their children the strangest names! It's awful.
Reply:Because they're uneducated and don't know any better.
Reply:LOL

I'm also a fan of traditional names. I won't say much about the made up ones... I think you said enough though lol...
Reply:Yeah, I don't like it either.
Reply:I hate it. When I see those stupid names I always so to myself "can I buy a vowel"
Reply:I like Apple.
Reply:i know!!! it is so annoying. i would hate to have any of those names
Reply:haha i know what you mean. its awkward too me.. but whatever their choice.lol
